For today, we’re not just asking how the eclipse will affect you or how you can ground yourself in this moment. Instead, we’ll investigate what this eclipse means for your relationship to nurturing and being nurtured, supporting and being supported.1

I pulled a card and read the back of the deck (the overall energy of the card’s message) for each sign so you can get messages that are more specific to them. Cancers have a storied history with caring for others. They are described as the nurturer and mother, a homemaker archetype only rivaled by Virgo and Taurus. Cancers care a lot, and this eclipse season is going to put that system of care under investigation. This isn’t the time to be swayed by emotion alone. You’ll find yourself pulling back, examining the details of your relationships holistically. You’re examining tendencies to coddle or be hyper-independent. There is a healthy middle, and you will find it this eclipse season. You don’t owe anyone care, and no one owes you care. Learn to respond to each given situation accordingly.

Leo: Knight of Swords (BOTD – Four of Pentacles)

Are you in over your head again? You may be throwing yourself into situations that are not built to hold all of you. The irony is that this habit may be unintentional self-restriction. Yes, you can keep steamrolling, avoiding asking for help or reflecting on your needs. However, you will burn through that steam sooner than you think and have no one in place to tend to you after. Examine what part of you is being protected in this act. What’s the danger in slowing down, not thinking fast but instead thoroughly to assess your needs? Sooner doesn’t mean easier, just soon. Faking ferocity is useless energy when there are plenty who will hold you in your gentleness.

Virgo: Two of Wands (BOTD – The Devil

You’re on the edge of something, but you’re not exactly sure what. This edge, which could feel brimming with potential, is cast in shadow. There’s deep-rooted fear keeping you in place, observing without moving. You know the kind of care you want to experience. You may even have a how. Yet something is blocking you from making that first step towards creating this new environment for yourself. Your stalling, which may feel like careful consideration, is actually ruminative. If you want to love and be loved the way you want to, you’ll have to face those fears head-on. That is where the real work lies. Is your coven on the way? This is a much lighter and celebratory energy than one expects for eclipse season. Now this doesn’t mean disruption won’t occur, or the change won’t be felt, but the tone of change is celebratory. You’re not just experiencing a win, but a collective rejoice. This new era in your relationships will bring in tangible good, not just nice feelings or fresh perspective. You may have already been navigating these questions about your needs and capacity in your relationships with others. Celebrate all the different ways this work is working for you and your people.

Scorpio: Five of Wands (BOTD – Ace of Wands)

Sometimes we find ourselves in a series of connections where we don’t feel entirely seen, don’t really understand people, and both parties are left in a stilted, estranged dynamic. If we’re lucky, at a later point this rupture is relieved by a revelation about this person’s upbringing, the reveal of a key miscommunication, or a different, moveable block. Maybe the person in question didn’t realize how much hurt they had brought you at all. The key here is that love is present, but it will need to be unearthed from discordant communication first. In more modern terms: girl, so confusing. The untangling will bring in a nice breeze once the task is dealt with.

Sagittarius: Queen of Cups (BOTD – Five of Wands)

Sagittarians are very good at avoiding the interior of themselves if there’s no inclination to do it. Maybe a water moon or Venus placement can invite you into the flowing waters of the whirlpool we all have inside us, but you’d rather go somewhere a bit drier and playful. This Queen is interested in no such activity. This inner flow is also polluted with confusion that must be sorted through. We can’t show up for others without first showing up for ourselves. Aquarius: Six of Wands (BOTD – The Devil)

Take your moment to celebrate the high-vibe energy of victory in your relationships this eclipse season. Once you’re ready, acknowledge the darker edge to this victory. You’re worn out and have been on a long enough journey navigating this already. Still, some feeling (or someone) wants to emerge and offer a new perspective on your relationship to care. If this potential doesn’t amuse you, don’t sweat it. It’s natural to feel tired, even when getting a final push toward the other side you’re looking for.

Gemini: Eight of Pentacles (BOTD – Nine of Wands)

Geminis don’t get as much credit for their moments of dedicated focus, so let me grace you with it now. You are not fucking around when it comes to building strong, sustaining structures of care in your life. You want to feel secure with your people and your people with you, so you are laying down the foundation this eclipse season. Don’t mind the exhaustion; just because this work feels slow-moving and menial doesn’t mean progress, meaningful progress at that, isn’t happening. Keep going. The results will hold you in the long run.

If you’ve been keeping up with my semi-daily voice notes the last month, then you know July was intense. Predictive tarot always shocks me with how it manages to find accuracy. It’s never how you think it will be. It demands surrender through assertion. Like a weather report, I know it will rain, but I won’t know until the moment how I’ll feel about the rain. I can bring an umbrella to prepare and still decide I don’t want or need it. I can take my chances that the report is slightly off and risk being soaked. What will be will be.

That’s why I like to call these monthly readings tarot forecasts. You decide if you want to pack an umbrella.

Enough preamble. Let’s see the reading!

BOTD: The Artist

This major arcana specific to the Luna Tarot speaks to the creator in us. The creator or artist is understood as a vessel—ideas are given to be delivered by us, not sourced from the raw material of our cells. You must learn to listen closely, to interpret the unspoken into something legible. Last month was themed around a birth that we had to initiate. As we progress forward, it’s our job to keep our vessel clear as we nurture this new reality to life.

Card 1: King of Swords

There’s been quite a bit of King energy this summer! King of Swords returns two months later to help us get our heads straight again. We may have got caught up in the fiery speed forward that arrived at the end of July, and it’s time to check ourselves. Are we being too hasty? Are you considering not just what you want but what you need? The King of Swords does have a heart, and he likes it used wisely. There may be a better way to approach this if you take a second to assess the full scope of your situation before moving forward.1

Card 2: The Star

This month will have eclipse season, hitting Leo then Pisces. While the Star is associated with Aquarius, the Aquarius full moon’s clarifying energy may echo here too. Eclipses are portals from one stage of our lives into the next. The Star sings similarly of transformation, meeting us toward the end of this process where healing begins. We integrate what we’ve learned, the shadows we faced, and allow it to connect us to the greater whole. Traditionally, the Star figure is depicted with two goblets pouring onto the land and into a body of water. This interconnected nature of flow is what the Star speaks to. In this deck, the figure is surrounded by an airy material associated with the divine. This healing process is tapping into something greater than ourselves.2

Card 3: Page of Pentacles

Sometimes after an intense period of change and confrontation, we attach to a sense of half-baked omniscience. It’s in your best interest to drop this and stay curious. The Page’s attentiveness comes from a commitment to being a student above anything else. We need to be open to learning, re-framing, and seeing new perspectives that can help us bring to life what we're meant to. Throughout these forecasts this year, there’s been a recurring theme around new journeys, progression, and so on. Page of Pentacles reminds us that there’s no grand destination we’re moving towards. Creating and assessing is what matters. Exploration is the center of it all.

Summary:

After a long period of upheaval, this month’s energy is bringing us a place to land. We’re readjusting our approach after finding the fire to move forward at the end of last month. This restabilization will come in hand once we reach the next wave of transformational energy around eclipse season. Unlike previous points of the year, this transformation is less about pulling back the mask or leaving things behind. Instead, we find our north star, integrating the lessons that had emerged over the last few months and seeing the larger web our healing reveals. This process welcomes in a contemplative, curious energy, creating the perfect channel to help birth the creation that wants to move through us.

I wasn’t going to do a review post of any kind this month. I honestly got so depressed at one point I wasn’t even listening to music the way I usually do. As usual, looking back to remember and reflect was reassuring. Sometimes all you have to do is keep moving forward. Something arrives eventually.

It’s not something I can say is a virtue, but I do hope it marks a shift in how my emotions are harbored in my body. During a period like this, in the past, it’s driven me into stress-induced maladies. Learning to just hold it and acknowledge it is something I’m willing to take on if it means no more of that. Still difficult, but it’s better to know your monster than have it lurk in the somatic shadows.

The podcast I mention is Goes Without Saying with Sephy and Wing, which did very well and is seemingly on hiatus. Maybe they made a pact with Binchtopia to release the zillenials to the airwaves of this new era emerging. Excuse my laziness and choice to gatekeep the Spirit Math pull of that day. I’m behind in releasing these because I got embarrassed and then delightfully busy. This means you’ll hear from me a good amount over the next few days.

Yesterday I listened to the new Kelela album and In The Blue Light. The live album is so special to me. I felt vaguely about the new one, but that could change in the future. It’s common for me not to like music that becomes my obsession at first.

I also listened to the new Noah Guy album MEMORIA, in blue. Also underwhelmed but not mad at it. May give it a final try before releasing it to the ether. Very fascinated by the draw blue is having on me. That’s how I know a new era is emerging. The visual language of my world shifts. Deep sea blue for this one, at least for now. I’m stubbornly meditating on it still. Maybe literally meditating would be smart of me if I get over the ego bruise.

Welcome to July! This month’s energy is going to be a bit of a firecracker (no pun intended), but make no mistake: we are the architects of the world we want to see. This is not the month to be passive and sink into the background. Action will need to be taken, and we are fully capable of handling it.

You’re not here for my pep talk, though. There’s a whole forecast to get through, so let’s get into it!

BOTD: Ace of Cups

If you remember last month, the energy of the Aces took over halfway through when Ace of Swords followed Ace of Pentacles. This month, Ace of Cups is our overall theme, timing perfectly with Mercury retrograde in Cancer. Something new is generating in the heart sector of our lives: expect new energy around relationships and all the new feelings that come with it. You may discover a new thing to love and pour yourself into like never before. Wherever your heart calls you to, it’s just the start.

Card 1: Five of Pentacles

This new beginning is not without hardship. Five of Pentacles is a rough card to get since it appears when we’re most down on our luck. You’ll notice a guardian and child wearing rags, huddled together in a moment of rest. The classic depiction of this card shows them walking through a winter storm. This tough season can feel very isolating and hopeless. Five of Pentacles is a call for support. You don’t get a medal for biting the bullet and powering forward alone. Caring for one another and allowing ourselves to be cared for is important for building relationships. Take this opportunity to call in that love and let it grow.

Card 2: The Chariot

There’s a lot of astrological activity throughout the month, but this Cancer retrograde will definitely be center stage until it ends on the 23rd (plus the post-retrograde shadow period). As your resident Cancer, the Chariot’s association with the sign doesn’t make immediate sense. The theme of this card is about moving forward and leading where we’re progressing. Our sphinxes in front are there to help with this movement and can even take over as guides, but we must be the ones to take the reins of our journey.

Now, Cancer is a water sign, but it is also a cardinal sign. Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) are initiators. They come up with the idea and gather people together to make something happen. This is the energy of the Chariot. It doesn’t matter what a higher power reveals to you; it can’t be done if you don’t take the steps to make something happen. We must captain our lives. Since retrogrades like to return to past events, people, and themes, this would be a good time to address what can no longer afford to be stalled. Where do we need to see some initiation to move forward? Since this month relationships are such a big theme, pay attention to how this theme shows up in your connections.

Card 3: Knight of Wands

With the Chariot’s engine up and running, Knight of Wands gives us even more energy to speed ahead. This momentum is fueled by a passion ignited and adds a slightly chaotic edge to the Chariot energy felt earlier in the month. Now that we’ve decided to move, we’re moving fast, and we’re not overthinking it too much. Imagine two lovers deciding to commit to embracing the journey they’re on together and falling head over heels to run into the sunset.

Now, is this sustainable long-term? No. But finding that stability is a conversation for later. This is just the beginning, remember?

This month continues the flurry of new energy, this time focusing on what’s in our hearts. We’re starting a little rocky, feeling a bit down on our luck. This offers an opportunity to feel supported by those around us if we so choose. As we rise, there’s a call to take initiative in our journey. This call may be related to themes that emerge during Mercury’s time retrograding in Cancer. This initiation sparks a fire in us to speed ahead in our journey. The burst of energy may feel overwhelming, but we can embrace it as part of this new beginning.

If you can believe it, King of Cups is our clarifier once again. This new era we’re entering is concerned with our relationships and how we find emotional stability within them. Having this card return emphasizes the importance of this stability. We’re leveling up our understanding around this more than ever before this month.

This also makes June and July feel like part one and part two of a larger story. Reflect on what that may mean for you.

Clarifying Five of Pentacles: Two of Pentacles

The struggle happening in Five of Pentacles is the result of a balancing act. Something needs more attention than it’s getting. While you can manage to maintain both, the balancing act is creating a sense of overwhelm. For some of you, this support could look like offloading some of the weight of responsibility. For others, you may need support in learning how to find this balance in the first place. You have the capacity to handle what’s in your life, to manage the flow of these alternating energies. You don’t have to figure everything out on your own. The joy of being a person is getting to talk to so many other people about how they manage being a person in the world. This mode of sharing is an act of service too.

For some of you, support may look like finding community with others learning to find balance in the same way you are. Think yoga, healing circles, writers’ groups. Again, there is no reward for muscling through life alone.

Clarifying The Chariot: The Well

The Well is a special major arcana card part of the Ethereal Visions Luna Tarot deck. She’s a creatrix, a well of ideas waiting to be birthed. The Well cannot birth anything unless we draw from it. The idea drawn will not become a reality unless we take the initiative to make it happen. If we want to see a better world, a better life, we must commit to searching for ways to make it possible. Get curious, stay open, and put yourself out there. You never know what you’ll find.

Clarifying Knight of Wands: Eight of Cups

This new path we’re charging down is a turning point. This is no surprise with the Ace of Cups being the overall energy, but the Eight of Cups asks us to leave something in the past. Think of where we have emotional attachments: relationships, environments we’ve outgrown, roles we’ve stuck to out of habit. There may also be attachments we don’t want to let go of, but leaving them behind creates space for movement. We’re growing, and the way forward refuses to be slowed down by things that no longer fit who we are right now.

Summary:

Our clarifiers continue this story of progress, continuing on the theme of emotional maturity from the month before. We struggle with balance at the beginning of the month and need to call in support to learn how to manage our balancing act. This support isn’t here to take over completely, but to give us the fortitude to handle what we’re capable of handling. Later in the month, we’re asked to bring an idea into the world. In the process of birthing this idea, we’ll find that previous attachments will have to be left behind to make space for momentum.

This month is going to be a little chaotic, but hopefully this undercurrent theme is grounding as you move through it. I’m excited to see what new things come through.
